Yellow Class

Hello! I’m Miss Kelly Lear and I am the teacher in Yellow class. In September we will be welcoming the new children to Reception; the Rockets and the Jets. I’m really looking forward to getting to know everybody and I hope we have lots of happy children during their first few weeks at school.  The Teaching Assistants in Reception classes are Miss Hope Wilcox and Miss Sile Howells.

Can you help us?

As part of our learning about The Jolly Postman, we have a role play Post Office in both classes. The children are really enjoying using these areas, but we would love you to help us stock these areas with a few resources:

  • any unwanted envelopes, postcards, return address envelopes
  • any bill envelopes with the blue security patterns inside (see photo)
  • any stamps torn off envelopes (so we can look at all the different designs)
  • any unwanted cards
  • small boxes/packages from deliveries eg amazon

Thank you in advance for your help and support.

The Jolly Postman

Our focus this term is ‘The Jolly Postman’ by Janet and Allan Ahlberg. This is the story of a postman who has letters to deliver to lots of familiar story characters such as Goldilocks, Cinderella and the Big Bad Wolf. We will be retelling traditional stories, making up our own stories and writing our own letters. It would be lovely if you could share some traditional fairy tales at home.

Our first week

We are having a busy first full week in Reception. We are looking at the story of The Little Red Hen, and we have enjoyed making dough using lots of herbs and spices. We have tasted different kinds of bread, and decided which is our favourite.

Year 2 summer show – Pirates versus Mermaids 17th July

Year 2 will be performing their summer musical in two performances on Monday 17th July. The morning performance at 9.30 am  is for toddlers and babies to attend; the afternoon performance at the new time of 2.45 pm is for adults only.  This is one of the most ambitious productions yet and the children have been working very hard to hone their acting and singing skills.
