Blue Class

Welcome to Blue Class.

In Year 2 we love to learn by exploring, talking, being active and creative whilst developing independent working skills. This year we will have lots of fun learning new information and skills both indoors and outside. We cover a variety of topics through the year using the National Curriculum and ideas from the children. Interesting trips and visitors into school are an important part of making learning enjoyable. We value family input in our learning, so if you feel you could contribute to our topics please let us know.

Every term we have a homework grid which can be completed at your own pace throughout the term, please ensure you have completed all the tasks by the last week of the term when we have a homework sharing session. Children have the opportunity to change their books on a daily basis and can gain points for our weekly reading challenge, please try and read every night as reading is such an important part of school life.

Mrs Ingrid Pagett is the teaching assistant in Year 2 and teaches PSHE and Music once a week as well.  The children also get weekly PE lessons taught by Sports Heroes.

I’m looking forward to a fantastic year!

Welcome to Year 2

We have had an excellent first week in Year 2.  The children have settled in well and have already impressed us with their behaviour and readiness for learning.

Thanks to all the parents who came along to the meeting on Thursday, it was good to meet you.  For those of you unable to attend there is a copy of the welcome information attached or please see the class teacher for a paper copy.

All children have now got levelled reading books and a homework book.  A homework grid and spellings for the term are stuck in the front of the book.  There is also a homework grid attached to this post in case you need another copy.

We are fortunate to have Mrs Pagett as our year group teaching assistant and also Miss Morris as our apprentice TA.

We’re looking forward to getting to know you all over the next few weeks.

Homework Term One

Indian Workshop

Today, Year Two have been learning all about India through a fun and active workshop led by Mrs Joshi and Miss Francis. We learnt where India is, the flag of India, the national flower and bird and found out that there are lots of different languages spoken. We also listened to an Indian story about a chapati (this was very similar to the gingerbread man), tried some Indian biscuits and mango juice and joined in with some Indian dancing. Mrs Clark and Mrs Barker even got to try on a sari! We hope you enjoy our photos. Can you guess what the Hindi writing says? Hint: It is written on your school jumper.

11.1.18 Blue Class Programming Lesson

Today Blue Class programmed the Blubots to make shapes.

We followed instructions to make Blubot make a square.

Then we tried to write a plan to make Blubot make a rectangle.

We also used the BluBot app on the ipads to programme Blubot to move around the world.

.  This was harder than we thought and Blubot made some funny shapes!

Stay and Write

We really enjoyed having so many parents and grandparents joining us for our Stay and Write sessions this week- thank you to all those who attended and we hope you enjoyed learning about contractions and homophones with us!

Here are some photos.
