Starting School

playingWhen should my child start school at Broadway Infant School?
If you are looking for a school for your first child it is always a daunting prospect. We hope the information on this page plus the information you will find on the rest of our website will help you to understand the process.

Children begin school at Broadway Infants the year after their fourth birthday.
For example if your child was four on September 3rd 2015 they would now be attending our Reception class as part of the admissions to school this September 2016. Even if they were 4 on the 31st of August 2016 they are offered a place to start school in the September term because it is the start of the school year that follows their fourth birthday.

By law, all children reach compulsory school age at 5 and as a parent/carer, you have a legal responsibility to make sure this happens –either by registering your child at a school or by making other arrangements to give them a suitable, full-time education. Once your child is registered at a school, you are legally responsible for making sure they attend regularly.

Please read our Admissions and our Attendance Policies for more information.

If you are unsure about what to do or you would prefer to talk to someone about your child’s admission to our school please contact us directly by telephone on 01454 867130 or pop in to see us. Our office staff will be happy to help you.
